Ask The Question CIC Awarded Grant from the Mayor’s Safer Communities Fund

17th March 2025 – Ask The Question CIC (ATQ) is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded funding from the Mayor’s Safer Communities Fund. This crucial grant will support ATQ’s ongoing efforts to provide mentorship, educational support, and a safe space for young people who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) in West Yorkshire.

The funding will enable ATQ to deliver one-to-one mentorship and tuition to fifteen vulnerable young people in Calderdale over the next 12 months. These sessions will focus on academic improvement, personal development, and emotional well-being, equipping participants with essential coping skills and fostering resilience. By providing a warm, supportive environment, ATQ aims to help young people regain confidence, re-engage with education, and build positive relationships that contribute to their future success.

ATQ works with young people aged 6-18 who face challenges such as trauma, neglect, and social isolation. Through its trauma-informed approach, the organisation provides not only academic assistance but also emotional and psychological support through on-site educational and child psychologists. This holistic model is designed to reduce the risk of school disengagement, mental health struggles, and criminal exploitation—critical issues that many young people in the region face.

ATQ’s project aligns closely with the objectives of the Safer Communities Fund, which aims to prevent crime, reduce vulnerabilities, and strengthen community safety. By fostering empowerment and reducing risk factors for involvement in crime, the project will contribute to long-term positive change in Calderdale and beyond.

The organisation will formally receive its grant at the Mayor’s Safer Communities Fund Awards Evening on Monday, 17 March 2025, at Bradford Academy. The event will celebrate the impactful work of organisations like ATQ that are making a meaningful difference in their communities.

Jo Austin, founder of Ask The Question CIC, said, “We are incredibly grateful for this funding, which will allow us to continue providing much-needed support to young people in Calderdale. Every child deserves a safe space to learn, grow, and achieve their full potential. This grant will help us make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.”
