Our update from Jo, founder of Ask The Question
Dear parents and supporters of Ask The Question,
We are glad to be back! The half term has flown by quickly, and already so many outstanding achievements have been made by our students, volunteers, and supporters. We have enjoyed being back in the offices and it has been great to see all our fantastic students again.
We are very proud to announce that all our ATQ students and CLA students have passed their Maths and English GCSEs. In addition, two long term school refusers have returned to school full time this September, which is such an outstanding achievement. We must also say a big congratulations to both our kinship care and young carer students who achieved exceptional GCSE results, not only passing but excelling with all sevens, eights, and nines!
We have had a fantastic trip to Huddersfield University, with a full tour and a Q&A with the pastoral head. This showed our students what university is like first-hand, and that their aspirations are well within their grasp, no matter their personal circumstances. This was an exciting and inspiring experience for many of our students to get the ‘feel’ for university life.
An incredibly talented student, who lives in local authority care, started an apprenticeship in business admin. Additionally, one of our CLA students passed their eleven plus exams and has been enrolled at North Halifax Grammar School since September. Two of our younger students, who too, live under local authority care, did their eleven plus exams this half-term and we could not be prouder! On top of this wonderful news, we are delighted to share that we have welcomed another care experienced young person to our fabulous RTQ team.
In addition to all this wonderful news, we would love to say a huge thank you to Caroline Mahon and the Bishop family for their long-term support. They each have donated and supported us respectively. Every penny of every donation goes directly towards our students and their sessions. This includes all tutor costs, equipment such as books and stationery. Additionally we allocate funding for our students to use our office for independent learning. By opening the top room of our office, we ensure students have a safe and warm place to complete their homework, where biscuits, drinks and laptops are always available.
If you would like to donate you can do so through this email, our website, easyfundraising (which is no extra cost to you!) or by donating old/ unused laptops. This enables more of our students to be reached over Zoom lessons and increases the laptops available for independent study.
Thank you for all of your continued support,
Best wishes from Jo and the ATQ team x
